Introducion

I love the dark moon.

The power and permission unleashed by invisibility: to be unseen, to take time; for being, undoing.

I hear and feel the cries for sovereignty coming from all that has been separated from source: womxn from wombs, children from families, people from land, elders from ancestors, animals, trees, mountains from spirit.

It is the darkness of the moon that reminds us again and again

to begin again

to re-source ourselves and through us, each other.

While we have learned to fear darkness, it is here that lies our power to transform and create. Each new moon opens a door to this darkness;

a moment, a mindset, an invitation to ritual,

noticing, allowing the endings that in turn invite beginnings.

There is power in simply paying attention to the inevitability of this circular dance.

This diary centers the ritual of tracking cycles around the recurring node of the dark moon, inviting you to unearth, observe and document time as you experience it, to notice the lunar shapes that animate the other rhythms of your life: dreams, moods, foods, blood, fertility, visions and venoms.

There are 13 lunations starting December 2019 and ending December 2020, beginning with the new moon and ending before the next. Within each lunar illustration you will find an inner circle and a daily leaf that allows you to track any cycle along with the lunar phases. Write or draw in the daily leaves. Color or number the circles. Write or draw wherever you’d like!

You may track your mood, food, dreams or daily experiences.

You may also track your menstrual/ovulation cycle by coloring in the smaller circles. This may support either planning or avoiding conception.

If you are tracking your pregnancy, you may number the weeks along side the lunar phases.

If you are entering or exiting menopause, you may track your new rhythms and reorient your connection to the moon.

A full page for each new moon invites space for welcoming the darkness, receiving the gifts it offers, and setting intentions. The daily pages allow us to track and journal our lives as we move towards the light of the full moon, where we are given another full page to express those intentions, knowing each cycle will begin again.
